GWINNETT SENIOR GOLDEN GAMES

CYCLING RULES & EVENT MANAGER NOTES

BACKGROUND

We will use a new track, which has been built around the outside of the new football stadium. This is located just past the new swimming facility.

The track is a little more than 600 yards, and so 6 laps will be between 2 and 3 miles. The track is fairly narrow and so we will only have three riders on the track at a time. WE will ride in a clockwise direction and you are asked to ride on the right (inside) of the course, passing on the left (outside). Please warn the rider in front before you overtake.

The event will be a time trial with each rider competing against the clock.

The fastest three riders in each gender/age category will be awarded medals.

Each competitor must provide a "road ready cycle" and an approved DOT helmet.

In the event of rain or other dangerous conditions the event manager will decide whether or not to cancel the event.

TIMERS

1. We will need 4 timers for each event. These are usually competitors who are not competing in the heat, plus any volunteers.

2. Each timer will be provided with a stopwatch and will be assigned to one rider. The fourth timer will be the back up in case of a malfunction with any of the watches.

3. Timers will start the watches at the beginning of the heat and stop the time when their rider crosses the finish line. Timers are also asked to remind their rider how many laps are remaining. However, this does not absolve the rider of the responsibility to count his or her own laps.

4. The manager will record the time for each rider, determine the winner in each age/gender group and award the medals.
